    MX-C401 post script

We replaced a problem 401 with another 401 at a church customer we have. Didnt know the pastor and another person are using macs. The replacement machine does not have post script so macs not working. Is it possible the put the boards from the original machine into the replacement so it would have post script? If so which board do you think it is stored on? Thanks for your help and suggestions.

The Post Script option is married to the original machine with a Product Key from Sharp. I don't believe that option can be 'transferred' to another machine without a blessing from Sharp.

I thought the boxes came with postscript capabilities as part of the package, not as an option, perhaps I am missing something.

You are probably right; but some of the early A4 machines did not have PS as a standard.

After I delivered the machine I put in the IP and gateway from the other machine and they test printed fine. After I was long gone they called and said they couldnt print anymore on their macs, which I didnt know they had. I was assuming this machine didnt have post script. I now looked at the specs of the machine and it does look like it is standard on this model. So sorry for this post,I should have checked first. When I go back I still have to figure why the macs dont print,I dont know much about macs.

Mac doesnt install on ipadress, but network name.

New machine, so the networkname will be different...just reinstall on the macs and you'll be good.

And make sure it doesnt automatically choose the airprint driver when installing.

Just as a note, it is possible to install drivers on Macs using either the hostname or the IP address of the copier. I typically go with IP as we've had issues with various customers internal DNS going sideways on us and computers not finding the copiers. We either set a DHCP reservation for the MFP or statically set the MFP to an IP outside the DHCP range.

Swap MFP (and all chips attached), PCU, SCU and HDD from bad machine to new machine; update and calibrate........PostScript or any other option activated by a product key.
                    Shhhh, don't tell anyone.
