    [Misc] Sharp MX501N

This Sharp MX 4501N (not MX501N) copier was working at office it came from according to customer. When move to present location I was told copier would not come on. I turned copier on and noticed the light at the power switch on panel was on but display was dead. I opened front door turned copier off/on and display came to life but then froze at a certain point. Fuser heated up and I could hear copier running but display would not leave its original start position. I removed the hard drive and got no error code. I reinstalled hard drive and reseated all dims. Am I looking at a bad hard drive or board problem(board that hard drive is attached to) ??? Can't access special functions either.
    Thanks!!!

Seems you tried most of the basics, checking and cleaning DIMMS and making sure all connectors are seated. It's an old box so I would not throw much money at it, have you ran an HDD check or tried a reformat? The least I would try is a HDD if push comes to shove.

I have had problems with other models not coming up. Reseating the mother board would be first step. I would also look at a bad SD card?

No SD card on MX4501. Just ROM dimms.

I have had the dimms fail and also HDD and Control PWB. Old machine! Hard to throw $ at.

Copier was moved by customer, floor it was rolled on plus parking lot was not smooth. Could the move have damaged hard drive or loosened a connection???

It very likely loosend a connection. I've seen it times with Sharps. Any PWB that "connects" into (plugs into) another PWB would reseat first. Easiest way to start troubleshooting it!

Yes, loose connector or HDD from moving is possible. It's Just a matter of how much time you are willing to put into a 13+ year old copier and how much your client is willing to spend.
