    Does a PCL5 Driver exsist?

I have a client that is running an old medical program and the copier will drop the print job half way though job, it only happens when they are using that medical program. I spoke with the support team on the programs end and they advised me to install a pcl5 driver. I looked on the choices of print drivers and tried downloading the universal driver, however, it still loads it in pcl6 format. Does a pcl5 driver exist on the Sharp download page? The copier is an MX-B402sc

I'm going to run an idea past my IT guy. I'm wondering if a generic HP pcl5 driver will work and just rename it Sharp MX-B402SC 5e?

I have used the HP driver on several occasions and it has worked fine. Never tried a specific Pcl5 driver before but definitely worth a try. Have not seen a Pcl5 driver from Sharp in a long time....

          Good luck.

Activate HP compatibility mode with sim 55-03 sw 3, bit 7. Change it to 1.
Keep using the PCL6 driver. Should make older PCL5 applications work perfectly fine. You may need to use the universal driver on some models, but the standard driver should work.
Also, check the actual medical program for a printer setup menu. Some custom programs have these menus to setup specific commands, page settings or driver compatibility settings.

Thanks, this is a new one to me, I will add it to my notes and give it a whirl.

The only problems I have in the past using HP pcl5 drivers for Ricoh of similar size and speed as specific HP printers has been tray numbering and finishing/exit trays.

Thank you, for the advice, Prints Charming, I went there today and tried this out, it seems to have worked.

Nice. Thank you for the update.
I knew you'd have success on some level with that sim. I've fixed a few problems with this one.

Im glad its resolved, however I would like to point something out for the forum that this will not work if you have a data security kit on the machine. Yes you can turn on the soft switch and all that but....a generic driver will not print without being able to interface with the dsk. So be cautious with clients with special printing needs and selling data security kits. You might handcuff yourself. LOL!
