MX-C300W scan to mail - character set

    Hello all,

Depending on the Message Client of the receiver the generated content of an Email will often not shown correctly.
It will display for example japanese- instead of special- characters in the message Body.
An analysis of the mail heder showes that the charset is: iso-2022-jp
Is there a way to change this or is it permanently deposited in the Firmware?
The device MCU runs on the version: 01.08.E1

    --SmTP-MULTIPART-BOUNDARY-3CFC7700
    Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-2022-jp
    Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

The effect is the following: (highlighted in red)

I would 100% get that Firmware updated!
The version you have is 10 releases behind the current version. There are numerous mentions of special character fixes and language corrections within updated firmware info documents.
Also, confirm the device is correctly setup for the destination you are in (sim 26), and the language settings for your location are correct (easily done from the device web page).

I already have set sim 26 destination to EUROPE in this particular case.
As far as that should fit, but since I am not a pure Sharp Tech I unfortunately have no access to any newer firmware.

This device is still likely at the factory software level at that time and I also assumed since then many problems have been fixed.
If someone could help me out here with an update file I would be very grateful to be able to remove this little issue.

Many thanks to all the excellent technicians here in the Forum.
The problem has already been solved and the emails are now correctly displayed on the respective client (e.g. Outlook).

As expected, the mail header now also contains the correct character set:

        --SmTP-MULTIPART-BOUNDARY-2300AC63
        Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1
        Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit

        Be safe, be well
