MX-M5070N admin password reset? No DSK

I've reset many Sharp's over the years, but not the new lines. Does anyone have experience resetting the admin password for this series? There is no Data Security installed. I know the 465, etc was dipswitch 1 then 24-30. I'm not currently at our wholesale branch where this info is needed so I don't have eyes on the machine yet.

I'm hoping I don't have to call Sharp, like some forum's have suggested, as we are in a time crunch. Thanks in advance!

Go to another machine (MX 5141) model doesn't matter. Go to Storage backup. Choose User Register Information. Create backup. Go to the MX 5070, type IP address. Go to (IP address /service_login.HTML), Password is service. Go to device Cloning. Send the backup you made to the machine and the password will be reset.

            Confirmed.

(I think we should keep this Lo' Key though, we don't want Sharp Corp to change this in a firmware update...)

Will it delete all other user created, or just overwrite the admin password? i have a sharp with about 80 users created, and don't wanna recreate all of them if possible

Is there any way to do the clone trick, with "Service" password modified?
Or how to reset "Service Password"

Short answer, yes! You will need to open the XML file and strip out all of the other information but just the password and it tags. Have to understand XML in order to do it correctly, you can easily corrupt the file. I do this with our standard clone file so we can update any customer machine with our standard configuration and not have to worry about changing anything we don't want changed.

You can send the clone with 56-02 also.

                      Good evening,
thanks for the tip. I edited my user registry backup file leaving only the admin account. It allows me not to touch other accounts.

If the administrator password and the service password seem to have changed. There may also be a faulty hard drive problem.

                            Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Just got back from a class and if you are a sharp dealer they have made it really easy to reset the admin password. Go into your IDNC Service website then your Calls list and there is a tab to reset admin password there. Haven't tried it yet.

                            Good luck

I just saw it, cool but...

"The normal turnaround time is 2 to 3 business days."

That is still too long for my taste.
