    Good old office365

Had a customer who has recently upgraded to office365. Their IT had input the new settings into a MX2640

Strangely it's failing on the username or password.

Have tried all the usual <> etc SSL levels, reply in image send settings etc.

Was thinking it was something in the office365 settings blocking the copier.

    Anyone seen this?

    Thanks

A colleague here posted this link Online SMTP Test - Send and Check your Email Server where you can test email settings, very useful in my opinion if you got all the login credentials on hand.

Gave it a quick try and it came back with a timeout error

Office 365 does NOT support ssl only tls
the only fix if your machine does not do tls is another email service that supports ssl like gmail or is to setup a connector in office 365

Sharp say that SSL medium encryption is TLS 1.2

What's strange is we have approximately 50 2640s out using o365 just fine...

Also the online SMTP Test failed and I've tried the settings in a 3061 and they wouldn't work.

Seen a 3061 yesterday using gmail fail with the same error. When I created a new gmail account it worked fine?

There is a firmware upgrade for this machine to install the TLS1.2 you need for 365

Thanks spanky, the firmware is up to date. This is a weird one have plenty of these running fine with o365.

Never seen a username or password error before with correct settings.

Try logging into the account through a web browser, I had one that couldn't send because microsoft had triggered a 'You need to change your password' window on login and the printer didn't know what to do with it. As soon as we had the customer login on a browser and set a new password we changed it in the printer and everything worked.

Don't just use a local email client, I had to login fresh from a browser to get that prompt to show up.

EDIT > Btw this may have been more appropriate in software? Someone else could probably say more assuredly, just my 2 cents, I'm new.

EDIT 2 > Also may be worth trying with a known working\bot account to isolate the issue

Make sure SMTP AUTH is activated on the office 365 account or you will get that errror ( and check that they have not turned on two way authenthication)
