    MX-FXX2 Handshake Tone

When sending fax from MX-M503n w/FXX2 the machine does not give the fax handshake 'beeps'. When you pickup the phone on the receiving end you immediately hear fax broadcast tones. If you don't pickup the phone the receiving fax will complete the receive.

Tried different fax unit. Tried re-doing country code. Checked fax settings and didn't notice anything wierd.

Agreed with Phil, what exactly is happening? Is this a new issue on an existing fax line?

        Have you tried a 66-10?

        Image Data Clear

For no other reason than it has solved some strange fax issues for me.

Normally when sending a fax there are fax beeps proceeding so the receiving fax machine is aware of a fax being sent. These beeps can be heard if you pickup the phone on the receiving end. The receiving fax machine will then pickup the line and start receiving the fax. On a Brother machine this is called 'Easy Receive'.

This unit is not doing those beeps. When you pickup the phone on the receiving end the machine appears to be already sending the fax and no beeps can be heard. This then causes the fax to not be sent as the receiving machine never picks up. If you don't pickup the phone on the receiving end the fax does send fine.

Obviously this is only an issue when they try to send and someone picks up the phone on the receiving end however this was never an issue before. No phone system changes. Having an issue with E7-06 now so going to do image clear and resolve before more testing.

*Update - E7-06 resolved. Image clear had no effect.

Except this is the sending machine. There are no beeps proceeding the fax send.

How will changing baud rate affect whether those beeps are used? Going to take a small fax machine over and see if line/jack/phone system are to blame.

sounds like he is trying to figure out IF it's on a DIGITAL line and Not ANALOG like faxes were designed to run on...

that's why I asked about VOIP to which you never replied.

different baud rates have a different handshake tones also

you should when working on fax issues have a separate handset along in your bag... to detect line noise etc.

If the sending machine rate it set high the recieve machine will reject it

                      What is it set too?
