    User Codes and Billing Codes

I am new to this Forum and Copier Setup of Codes. (User, Project, Job)

I have a client that has a Sharp 4101n and when Users Print they have to Enter a User Code

But they also have 'Project Codes' so they can assign what Billing goes to what County they do Services for

My Question is , can we 'Copy the settings from the Sharp 4101n to the Newer Sharp 5141n? Or do we have to Setup all of this from scratch?

You can clone the 4101 and transfer all of the settings to the new unit. Not a problem. Device cloning is located under system settings data backup accessed through the web interface. Not sure if this model will let you do it from the regular interface or the service login. I have had pretty good success with this.

    Good luck.

How will switching devices solve your issues with dealing with multiple billing codes? I have had similar issues and my work around has been setting their default printer with their own code and setting up an additional printers to the queue with the other codes for the other billing departments. If there were to many codes I would just setup an additional printer in the queue that they can just enter the code for that particulars print job for that department. If there is another way to do this I would be interested in learning how it is done.

As a heads up cloning or copying info from a different sharp OS may cause issues. Sometimes the way the information is parsed by the OS changes and cloning can actually cause issues on the new machine. I generally only try to clone from like models.

I wouldn't do a full clone. Just take what you need. We cloned a MX3100 (same generation as your 4101) to a 4141 and it made some "interesting" changes to the authority groups etc. Nothing that couldn't be changed back but it was just interesting finding it to fix the strange issue.

Also be aware if you take a old address book to any of the new MX3070 or MX3071 series machine you must use a conversion utility. Sharp claims failing to do so may cause random lockups and other issues in the future.
