[Jamming] APPD2_N jams only on duplex prints on MX-4111N

Duplex jam paper is found inside duplex door stopped at last set of rollers in the right door duplex. I hear a grunt right at the time of the jam. Other sheets are: 1 is just out of what ever paper tray your feeding out. Second is near registration fuser area. Any ideas. I barely ever work on sharps. lt is MX -4111n

clean the rollers....

check for sensor operation in service mode.

the 1st jammed page is more than likely the cause ... what is the jam code involved?

what is the page count on service parts?

is it dirty inside?

what have you attempted to diag the problem.?

This.

You already know the sensor name. Most Sharps have different sims for MFP sensor check, Tray sensor check and ADU sensor check. You'll find it it's a pretty tech friendly service mode.

Jam code is in my post. Cleaned all rollers. It does it 50 or so copies. When I get on here it is because I want experience not a #_#_&#-# lecture.

Thanks for you word of wisdom. You are the best ! I been doing this 30 years, what is the sensor thingy do hinky are you talking about. I will go and check those. Thanks for the help. We need more seasoned vets like you.

I didn't read it could pass 50 sheets. Either way Sharp sensors are flaky, I'd replace it.

Does this machine have a finisher installed?
Please keep in mind alot of random duplex jams can be caused by a timing problem through the delivery unit or duplex gate on the right door, because of a sluggish solenoid, gate, spring or perhaps torn piece of paper wedged in there. Lead-edge timing becomes out of sync and you get the 'grunt' noise you mentioned as everything comes to a sudden stop.
If you have a finisher, take it off (and the shifter locking plate) and run the machine in duplex for a while.
The gap between the sheet at registration/fuser and the sheet inside the duplex door is too far. The timing seems out for sure.

I have also done an emergency firmware update for problems such as this, with success. Just a thought....
