    Sharp MXB427w ( I think rebox Lexmark MB3442)

    Fax button does not appear.
    • I can select and de-select "fax" on op panel and via the web interface under "home screen icons" settings
    • I've re set to factory default
    • I've enabled the initial setup routine on start-up routine and re-set up as if new.
    • machine receives faxes and can send if I create a shortcut

Just no fax button so I can't do a one-off fax

Anyone? Even a wild-ass guess would be appreciated.

    TIA

Possible firmware....but all Sharp has is the original production firmware, which I reloaded to no avail.

I did find this in the Lexmark forum....

There was a firmware update that caused this on multiple Lexmark models. Normally cycling the power restored the icon but on a few we had to do an out of service erase. Very random. Not only did the icon disappear but it even killed incoming faxing.

Sharp will have to get the firmware refreshes from Lexmark a little quicker if they want us selling them.

Out of service erase took care of it for now.

Did not dare to even try to upgrade with newer Lexmark firmware

That adventure is for another day

          Thank you.
