What is the difference between Application and Embedded Pantone files?

I have searched on this site but there is not too much info on the topic of loading Pantone files. Sharp gives you 2 Pantone files, Application and Embedded. Do I need to load both files on to the mfp? Or just one of them? What is the difference between the two files (Application/ Embedded)? Any help or insight is much appreciated.

They both do the exact same thing except Application is loaded into the software (InDesign, Photoshop) while the Embedded table are uploaded to the machine.

If you are getting into the world of Pantone I suggest you buy a Pantone color bridge for both coated and uncoated papers. You will need it to prove what a pantone color actually is. Your customers will ask you to get your unit to produce pantone colors that a 4 color copier may not capable of producing. The color bridge will show you how close you can expect get to a specific pantone color you can get witha 4 color copier.
Just some suggestions so you can defend yourself in front of a customer.

        THIS times a million.

You will get unrealistic expectations from a customer with pantone color matching on a sharp that you will need to tune down. Make sure you show the color bridge and also make sure your customer understands that the color bridge formulas are constantly changing so the books become outdated. The sharp colorbridge exists within one pantone formula and trying to get the correct patch will depend on the current color bridge version and the fact that sharp doesn't update the swatch after production. What's in the machine is what its going to have for its entire life.
