    MX-2615 Scanning quality problems.

Hello, here is some test samples. This problem started intermittantly. When cust called for it once before it would not duplicate the problem. Now it does it all the time. It does it if they are scanning to email and also when scanning to make a copy. Self prints come out fine.we dont have a parts machine or boards for this model at the shop so I am going to order a scanner control board. Seeing if anyone has any other suggestions? Thanks

Wow, I think starting with the scanner control board is a good place to start.

Have you checked the scanner lamp? How does that look?

The lamp looks normal and also looks normal when lit up.

It's either the scanner control board, my first instinct, or CCD unit. My money is on the scanner control board.

I wish it had a dual scan doc feeder, would probably make it easy to determine if it was the ccd unit.

You can go into Sim 63 and look at the CCD gain settings. If they are double digits, the CCD is cooked.

If you scan to USB stick, do the same issues occur ?

Some of those smaller Sharp have physical chips on the scanner boards from what I remember, reseat those and the dimms on the MFP board.

If any of the scans settings are Auto, try setting them. I have seen Sharps do weird shit with exposure and color select set to Auto.

Failing to plan is planning to fail!!!

Thought I had it figured out. I saw the ccd unit for this machine is the same for some different models so I installed one from a different machine and it fixed it. The old one was doing problem every time. So then to be sure I put the original one back in and now it is working again. Previously I had reseated all the connecters so I know it was not just a bad connection. But it still may be telling me that it is the ccd. I will put the other one back on and let machine run and see what happens.

I would have to say CCD . Believe I have had this problem before.
Does it happen off of glass and or scanning????
