    Sharp MX-5071S Fin_Err

Hello everyone, I have a Sharp MX-5071S with a FN29 finisher getting intermittent/ returning problem of Fin_ERR in the jam logs. Reseated the finisher plug and that seemed to fix it for about a week. Then it happened again, cleaned the finisher entrance sensor and that also seemed to make it work again for a couple more weeks no jamming. Now it's back. Any ideas?

It does not have a punch unit. Just replaced the finisher control board. I was mistaken. It's an fn28. The control board didn't fix it. I also replaced the entrance sensor. No dice

Just out of interest how is the punch unit related? We had one throwing this jam code for a week, then it stopped and it had a punch unit

School started back up and now I have replaced the Finisher control board, the machine control board, finisher entrance sensor, did a CN update, I'm not sure what else to even look at at this point.

I have never came across this code before. Everything I find about it says firmware. I know you did that already. Hope that fixes it.

I've seen this before....Theres a sensor at the entrance to the finisher that gets coated in dust. Clean that thing off and see if that fixes the problem

110% in agreement here with Ted. Have had the same problem and the same frustation. The solution was very simple in the end.

Agreed on the finisher entrance sensor, everytime i've had this code, cleaning the finisher entrance sensor has fixed the problem.

This finisher inlet sensor is also my bet, the inlet plate above the sensor is also very flimsy and easily bent, Ive had that cause finisher jams too,
