    MX3110n wont send fax

I'm not to familiar with Sharp models but had a customer call with MX3110 that they say will receive but wont send faxes. I'm taking a loaner fax machine I have there to see if it will send & receive. Is there a setting that would prevent it from sending ? I've seen modem boards be bad and cause one to send or receive only.
Any other suggestions on this ?
    Thanks,
    Dave

If you're SMTP is a gmail account....good luck...do a TRACERT to smtp.gmail.com....so open up a CMD box type TRACERT SMTP.GMAIL.COM watch what happens.. then tracert microsoft.com and see the difference

Make sure the Sharp fax is using a 2-wire phone cord and NOT a 4-wire. That seems to fix most of those calls I get. Yes, even though it has worked all these years.

      Good luck!

This is always a good thing to check. A lot of fax machines around now work better with the 2-wire lines, but Sharp especially prefers them. It also doesn't hurt to put a ferrite core on the line

I took a loaner fax machine and used the same phone line and it sent & received fine. The phone line is a 2 wire. With the Sharp machine when you press the speaker and try to send you can hear it ringing and hear the fax tones at the same time but it will never send or receive.
          Any other suggestions ?

Have you checked out this thread? MX-4070 fax issue

It also could be a bad fax kit as well but you could try some of these ss settings to see if there is any difference.

Have you tried dumping the fax memory ?
Adjusted any of the soft switches for VOIP (ECM, baud rates, coding, etc...)

I have not as I don't have access to Sharp service manuals.
                Thanks
