    Sharp MX-5050 Toner Chip

    Hi all,

We're experienced with Konica Minolta but recently switched to Sharp copiers. One issue we're facing is the toner chip error—on Konica, we could bypass certain error codes, and we're wondering if there's a similar way to do that with Sharp.

Has anyone found a way to skip the toner chip error when toner is finish on Sharp machines to save some cost?

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks!

Once the machine runs out of toner, the chip is disabled from further use. Only a new chip, or chip from a partially used toner can restore operation. Sharp's color chips are specific to that series of toner, and that specific color, unlike the Konica chips I've encountered which only serve as a reset function. If you move an identical toner from one Sharp to another that uses that toner, the machine recognizes the remaining capacity of that toner - this doesn't happen w/ Konica. Sharp chips are region specific and cheap & readily available. We save partials to top off partially used toners to full status (using a scale to weigh them in terms of correct gram weight) and mount a new chip. You need to have spare chips when you encounter a bad chip in a new toner - it happens.

Yep we do the same thing as Yurisan does, I dont know who his chip vendor is but I use these guys.

Multiple orders over the last 4 years, no problems. Just be specific on the region you need it for "NT" is north america etc.
