    MX-4101N Office 365 SSL Errors

I have a client with a MX-4101N that uses Office 365 for scan to email, and sporadically they will get errors SSL Connection Failed.

What's strange is during our tests, if they do the same scan 3 times, two of them will go through and the third one will display the error. My client's printer company isn't that useful so I'm on my own with this. I know that Office 365 and printers have had issues in the past due to TLS 1.2 requirements, but unsure if that is what is going on here. We have encryption set to medium and have the brackets fix in the image send settings.

Besides going with a 3rd party SMTP server, is this normal behavior for a printer of this age?

This was a recent "update" from Microsoft. The symptoms are as you describe. You may need to switch to gmail if you can or an IT guy on here may help more than I can.

TLS1.0 and 1.1 have now been disabled.
The shutdown of TLS1.1 has been a controlled reduction, which is why your scans sometimes work and others don't. It will slowly get worse to the point it will not work at all.
MX4101 has no support for the now minimum required TLS1.2 encryption, so it will not work with Office365 moving forward. You can setup Gmail, a Mail Relay Service......or go back to basics and Scan to Folder. The users can browse to the folder and attach to an email.
The MX4101 is well over 10 years old, so yes this is normal behavior.

Had this happen to an account yesterday. They are not married to the office365 email setup so changed to another email address and smtp setting and worked just fine. So if they don't care if they use the office address then I would suggest using a different one.

              Good luck
