Bought this machine from a broker to sell to a church. They wanted color but couldn't go new. The machine came with an oil spill the size of the Exxon Valdez. I spent much time cleaning the feed section and fuser. The machine is installed and there seems no evidence of continued leaking but the pickup rollers (I replaced them all) get oil slicked and stop feeding. Does anyone have any experience with this or comments? Thanks.

clean from top to bottom [ i just had to say that ] there has to be residual oil in the nooks and crannies in the machine...i cannot think of anything else, oil spreads around more when it is hot. maybe if you could find where oil is coming from and install a real simple wicking system ...eventually the oil will be gone

Unfortunately the oil tends to run between the machine and the desk (even though they're one unit). It will also fill up the duplex unit and seep down. Check your oil return hose to make sure it's directing the oil back into the fuser and not just pouring it inside the machine every time you clean it up.

Place some newspaper in front of the machine and pull out the transfer belt/fuser unit. The oil spots should give you an idea where the oil is coming from. If there are no oil spots, then check the duplex unit the same way.

Mate.... I can say is Good Luck!!!!!!!!

Have had a similar problem happen to me....... Another (non-color) tech installed a new fuser, but didnt hook the oil drain hose into the tank correctly, just like Graybeard's post.
Oil continued to run throughout the ADU & Desk units. Was never able to get it back to normal operating conditions. Oil simply gets into everything as gravity pulls it down.
Client eventually got an upgrade MX machine. Was happy to see the end of it... and so was I. Loved the Bear's alot, but hated the oil.

PS.... the machine must be shipped without the oil container & fuser to prevent this problem happening...... :-) This should have been arranged before delivery.
Every delivery or machine run-down at end of life, has a call logged to remove the oil & fuser to prevent oil going through the machine & delivery truck.

again....good luck mate. Wish you well.

Thanks for all the input. There is no additional oil leaking but the insidious nature of fuser oil is such that I don't think I'll ever get it satisfactorily cleaned out. I will figure out a way to make good for the church and get them something w/o the oil slime.
