MX-5071 admin password reset

Hello,
I recently picked up a Sharp MX-5071 at an auction.
It seems to work fine, but I can't figure out the admin password (the previous owner claims that he cleared the password already). I tried both "admin" and "Sharp" but neither works.
I saw a youtube video on a similar (probably slightly older) showing how to set a dipswitch to enter simulation mode and reset the admin password.
I tried setting dipswitch 1 on the motherboard and then powering up the machine, but there was no menu or option to enter simulation mode (it just booted up like normal).
Likewise there are other videos showing how to enter a secret sequence on the number pad, but this unit doesn't have a physical number pad.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You need a reset code from Sharp, I don't know how it works for the USA but in France you need to be a certified tech if you expect answer from them.

Unfortunately I am not a certified tech - I'm hoping there might be some workaround (or some kind soul who would be able to help me out).
It makes nice copies, but I'm guessing it won't be terribly useful otherwise if I can't change any of the settings.
