    MX-M465 connectivity problems

Cust has two 465s. The second one loses connectivity. When it does I can plug my laptop to machine and I can print. That makes me think that machine is ok. One thing I can not explain is when I try to download a new driver it can not find the machine, either by itself or if I manually tell it the IP. It can not find the machine but if I ping the IP it pings fine. So I dont know what that is telling me. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Absolutely agree. Sounds like a duplicate IP address on client network. You can print from your laptop OK because only you are connected to it.
Pull the network cable and run ping test. If you get a response, you've confirmed a duplicate IP elsewhere on the network. Move the IP range higher to avoid any clashes.
Also, may need adjusting network auto negotiation & speed changes via soft switch setting if the client has recently changed network infrastructure and there is a connectivity problem with the older controller on the 465.

          Try a different IP address.

Yes it was a IP problem. Like you said, there was something else on the IP of the copier. Probably basic troubleshooting but I didnt think to unplug network cable and ping IP. Easy troubleshooting. Thanks

I don't know why, but specifically with Sharp Copiers I've had so many IP CONFLICTS that I have lost count, and I don't even bother with static IP addresses anymore.

The first thing I do, is access the customers router, and either 1) Static outside of DHCP pool, (Which has given problems before). or 2) IP ALLOCATE IP address via MAC address.

Trust me, #2 will save you a f*ck ton of headaches.
