    Sharp MX5111 Scanning Issues

    Hi everyone!

Another day, another fun encounter with the old Printer

Yesterday I tried to scan a document, and all that i got in return was a purple, fuzzy image. Not sure what the issue is, but I'm suspecting an LED isn't functioning during the scan.

I did observe the printer whilst scanning and I can see the led white light scan across the document, but not entirely sure what else to look out for.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Try a 2 - 2 scan through the ADF and see if you get one good side and one bad side.

If the exposure setting is set to Auto, set it to something else. Have seen Sharps do odd things with auto exposure enabled. As suggested, a 2>2 scan is a good test and a scan from ADF and platen to compare results. If you want to get techy, enter service mode and check the gain readings of the CCD. A failing CCD unit will generally be double digits.
