Sharp MX 4101N Will not boot up

The customer's Sharp MX 4101NX will neither scan to email (Selected servers are not found). I can ping the server from the copier from the onboard network settings. Also the end users can print from their desktops and it copies. I replaced the MFP Controller, but it the item must be defective as all we get is a blank screen, thus a defective unit. I put the original MFP Controller back into the machine, again blank screen but with the fan motor running.

I found and followed this thread (https://www.copytechnet.com/forums/s...rk-screen.html). I cleaned the contact of both the DIMMS and the Flash modules, and now all I get is a blank screen, and not fan motor running.

Any assistance would be deeply appreciated.

In regards to swapping the HDD between the 2 boards, no. I could try this tomorrow when I return in the morning. I'm trying to get a RMA for the MFP Controller we received yesterday. As I said, when I put it in and applied power, no joy, nothing, nada. Only the PCU PWB power on LED was illuminated.

I hope you remembered to swap the EEPROM when you changed boards. However, that would give you an error, not a black screen. I would start with the SD card which holds the boot firmware. If that is dead then you will get no boot.

Re: Sharp MX 4101N Will not boot up

Good afternoon my fellow technicians. So, I installed the new MFP CONTROLLER after transferring all the EPROM, DIMMS, and HDD to the new PCB. The copier booted up and the customer can print, fax and copy. As far as scan to email, the network admin changed the email server from smtp.office386.com to smtp.gmail.com:465, and set the DNS primary to 8.8.8.8 and the secondary to 4.4.4.4.. Good news no more CE-00 error. Bad new, when performing the connection test, we get the following message: "Server host name cannot be resolved. Please check DNS settings". If anyone has run into this and/or have a way to resolve this, your assistance would be appreciated.

By the way, the reason for the change of smtp servers is the the smtp.office365.com uses the TLS which this copier does not have. I believe it is part of a firmware upgrade, which I don't have access to (I'm not a Sharp technician). Sharp service center says it will cost $220.00/hour for a certified tech to come out and resolve it.

Have you tried port 587 for the Gmail settings? I am curious why you switched out the mfp board. Was it because you could not not scan to email? If that does not work you can always set them up to scan to smb.

If you want to make sure its a dns problem, use gmail smtp ip instead of name(172.253.63.108). We have a few 4101n scanning with gmail smtp. Settings are: smtp.gmail.com
port 587 , ssl. gmail account with 2 step authentication, app password created for copier. Lately, lots of calls where we have to enable 2 step and app passwd coz "allow unsecure apps" is not working anymore.

You are correct. The MX-4101N's latest firmware was July of 2012. This MFP will not support TLS v 1.2 or higher.

Greetings. I resolved this problem. The MFP Controller was a pull from another Sharp MX 4101NX copier. More then likely, it had come off it's lease and had a high meter. Anyway, it blew 3 of the 6 fuses in the power supply. I replaced the fuses (thanks Amazon), stalled the original MFP Controller and the copier is up and running.

Thank you all for your assistance.

My customer is going to upgrade to a newer model of Sharp. Thanks for the assistance.
