    MX-5050 vs MX-5050V

Could some of you Sharp guys let me know the main differences between these 2 model series and the reasoning for it? All of our machines are either 2017 or 2018 serial numbers. I'm guessing the V version came out later, but they are so incredibly similar.

I am a Kyocera technician, but we service refurbished Sharps so we are always behind in the current Sharp models. We are now taking over quite a few of both of these models. I am well aware that some of the options and wiring harnesses are unique to their series and do not interchange. (ie FN27 vs FN27N, etc.) It seems from what I've seen that all toner and maintenance supplies are interchangeable and one series has Wifi. Correct me if I'm wrong. Looks like the same basic RSPF, 250GB HD, etc.

And if there's anything of note to look for on these on the service side. Each machine is getting the full PM treatment, factory resets, and FW.

    Thanks in advance.

The main difference is that the circuit boards are different between the two models along with the firmware. Supples and general parts are the same.

To add to driving lots of miles (not sure if he is today with gas prices) along with the boards being different so are the connectors on the fax kits as well.

I think the V models are stripped down. Like lesser model doc feeder, not wireless, smaller HDD and much other stuff. Pull up the brochures for both models and look at the specs. The machines look identicle but specs not the same.

I did compare them. Same size HD, same RSPF, N has wireless, V doesn't. From what I can tell PWB's, wiring harnesses, and all Options (stands, inner finisher, etc.) are the only things different. I was really wondering why they came out with this different, but nearly identical series. Just odd I thought.

Thanks for the replies, just trying to save some time and heartache down the road.

            The "V" is not a stripped-down version.

The MX-xx50's are a basic version of the MX-xx70's. Sharp calls the 50's the "Essentials" line and the "70's" the "Advanced"
The "50's" are basically a "bid" machine where all the bells and whistles are not needed.

The "V's" indicates that the machine has the new electronics to use the new accessories. These new accessories were introduced to be common between the MX and the MXM lines.

Was done to simplify but in reality had opposite outcome.

Thank you that makes the most sense. Many times big companies try to simplify things but only make them more difficult. Maybe it'll be more simple moving forward but these lines are a nightmare.

The N is a machine that was produced before Foxconn acquired Sharp. The V is on all production units produced by Foxconn. The supply and production chain changed since the machines are made by Foxconn. That is why the parts/model numbers are different.
