SHARP MX3070N - U2-00 Error Code

Hey Guys,

Has anyone here had a U2-00 error code before?

I've replaced the SCN-MFP PWB and MFP EEPROM as well and I still have the same error on bootup.

I'm think of changing the PCU EEPROM, SCN EEPROM and MFP EEPROM all at the same time and then have it boot into CN firmware mode on first bootup and flashing it. There is really no detail in the service manual on whether all 3 can be changed in one go. Something is obviously not meshing and I really don't know what else to try.

Any tips would be appreciated

I recently had this on an MX-M4070 and updated the ROMs in CN update mode and it has been working fine.

U2-00 usually means a problem with the serial number on the SCN-MFP pwb. Send the 22-06 data to a USB stick using sim 56-05. You can then look to see if the serial number for the SCN-MFP pwb and PCU pwb are present and correct.

So we did this and everything matched up. Which shouldn't be the case...

Latest Update -

This time we Replaced all 3 EEPROMS with new ones in one go (PCU EEPROM, SCN EEPROM and MFP EEPROM), and forced the copier into CN Mode on first bootup.

Once the firmware update was complete we rebooted the copier and it is no longer displaying U2-00

- It is a bit laggy still so we may try replacing the HDD next

- now comes the fun part of running almost every service adjustment there is.... lol

Symptom:	U2-00 trouble, only after performing a firmware update
Cause:	With the release of updated firmware, a CRC check is now performed to detect inconsistencies with the System Settings values and possible corruption of the Product Key information stored on the MFP.With the latest firmware, if an error or inconsistency is detected within the MFPC EEPROM, U2-00 trouble will now be displayed. In order to recover from U2-00 trouble (if it cannot be cleared using SIM16), please follow the Recovery Procedure below: 1. Using the Firmware Recovery Procedure (CN Update), downgrade the MFP firmware to the previous version. 2. Reboot the MFP. 3. Clear U2-00 trouble by executing SIM16. 4. From System Settings-Common Settings-Product Key menu, check and register the required product keys: a. If a purchased product option is not shown as enabled, enter/register the required product key and select submit. b. If no product options are enabled (default) or the product options are registered/enabled correctly, register any option that is NOT already enabled without entering a valid product key, so that ERROR [1220] is displayed. Select submit to update the MFP product key data. 5. Reboot the MFP. 6. Update the MFP firmware to the latest version using SIM49-1 To prevent a possible failure in the field, it is recommended to carry out Step 4 to update the MFP product key information, prior to updating the MFP firmware. Is there a procedure to reinstall the serial numbers onto the roms once changed? we have just had this issue and have some new roms on order, we tried taking the three roms off another machine to test and everything worked except it was displaying the other machines serial number.

I don't know, I would not have taken 3 eeproms from a different machine and put them into a different copier. I would strongly recommend you change out all 3 with new ones at the exact same time, do not boot the copier with any of the incorrect eeproms still installed.

I've never intentionally installed 3 eeproms from a different machine, you're in unknown waters!

You'll need to follow the procedures listed above. If you end up with any serial number mismatches after installing the 3 new eeproms you may just be screwed at that point... Good luck!
