Got called in to a non-functioning Sharp MX-3071 by new customer. Had no display, and only the power button above display & blue light to left of display lit. Figured bad MFPC PWB, right? Especially since some LEDs weren't lit on the MFPC PWB. Swapped customer's board w/ one out of a working MX-3071 that we had. It powered up fine, prints fine, but the scans are screwed up. Off the glass or side 1 (which scans over slit glass) the image is washed out to the point of being barely visible, shifted up & reduced slightly (main scan), reduced a bunch & shifted from the lead edge in the subscan direction. In 2 to 2 mode, the back side is well reproduced, but also reduced & shifted similarly - see attachments.
To make matters worse, when we brought back our MFPC PWB and re-installed it in our machine, we encountered the exact, same scanning issue. Our previously perfect machine is now infected with this problem. Of course, we checked & rechecked all the connectors, especially the ribbon connectors which tend to be fragile, and demand great caution, generally. mSATA & eproms were swapped initially to preserve customer's programming, then swapped back to original spots.
Sharp tech support (as they often do) suggested to simply to buy a new MFPC PWB, and see where that takes us.
HELP! PLEASE!
