MX-M465 intermittent almost blank copies

With a language barrier with customer it is hard to get real info about the problem. Machine is low copycount and maintenance is up to date. From what I can tell it is happening making copies. It has not done it for me but cust gave a sample that was very faint image. They say every now and again. I just had this type problem on a newer color machine that was due to the transfer roller release clutch. This model has no clutch but it seems like the same symptoms. Has anyone seen these type problems on this model? I would post the sample but really not much on page to see. Just a very faint image.

I would check the transfer roller and all the contacts especially the contact area inside by the drum unit towards the back of the copier. It gets toner dust buildup on it and could cause issues.

Thanks for the reply. I have cleaned the contacts and such. Have yet to have it do the problem for me. Trying to figure what I am going to do next.

It is also possible that F2-78 codes (non-blocking) appear from time to time?


Faded copies may also disappear for a moment when opening and closing the right door.


My solution is to clean the PCS sensor (Image density sensor) under the transfer roller.
In general, I blow the cell.

I have seen that sensor cause the F2-78 code before but never cause a quality problem. At the same time though I did not clean that off on this machine so it for sure is something I can try. Thanks for the suggestion.

The Orion series have a tendency for process control to run wild. If you clean up the machine then run 44-02 44-27 44-06 and 44-26 in that order it will clear up the problem until it does it again. Make sure the image density sensor is clean before running them.
