SMTP "other error" on connection check

I have a MX-2640 that we supplied a client for a short term rental that won't scan to email giving an "other error" on connection test. They have an old MX-M283N that scans properly and the client has an internal mail server on their network. The network settings are identical and all firmware has been updated. I can ping back and forth from both machines and to the router. We have checked the router for any MAC address filtering or other impediment to the newly introduced machine. I have never encountered the "other error" on a SMTP connection test and hope someone can provide some insight. Thank you.

Wasn't there a firmware that allowed for SSL 2? Might be worth a look.

Ver 6.00.A2.I0 SMB v2 and TLS 1.2 is the one you are thinking about.

          DEA-4410_Firmware_support_status.pdf

Like others said check if the firmware with TLS support is installed , the MX-M283 is most likely already up-to-date
