    Lexsharp motherboard swap

Has anyone been so brave to try and swap the main board of a MXB557P/MXC357F/MXB467P/... with a lexmark board?

Main boards for these cost almost as much as a new printer...but the lexmark part is 3 or 4 times cheaper.

Or do we just have bad prices?

3 year parts warranty with Lexmark so would probably be free if it was native Lexmark

I would think it would work as you restore the serial etc using the service restore tool once done, and I am assuming this would be supplied by Sharp, and therefore coded for Sharp rather than Lexmark

We have only replaced on controller board on a Sharpmark and it was under warranty so we didn't explore the cost. I have noticed all parts ordered for Sharpmarks are still labeled with the Lexmark logo part # label. I don't have access to the Service Manual right now but does it list a Sharp part# along with a Lexmark part#? We have only found one item to be cheaper on the Sharp side. Everything else it is cheaper to go with the Lexmark part.

If I'm not mistaken these do have a much longer warranty period than the typical 90 Sharp warranty.

          So nobody actually tried this?

I'm just guessing that the Sharp firmware has to be on the board itself so i won't work...but i'd like to try it
