    MX-7081 Address book failure

Hello, This machine has lost all the contacts in the address book, and also wont let anything to be reprogrammed in. This appears to be the only thing wrong with the machine. I installed latest firmware through cn update. I talked to sharp support and he said it was the hard drive. I put a new hard drive in and did not fix the problem. The manual also shows address book in the emmc. I am thinking to get a emmc. I am attatching a pic of the error I get on the machine web page. On the copier screen it all looks normal and it seems like I can enter addresses but they do not hold. Seeing if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks.image0.jpgimage0.jpg

On previous models, I would definitely say HDD... however, that model stores the address book on the mSata/EMMC... Unfortunately, you have to get one.

I've had this happen on a MX-M565 twice in a 6 month period where the location has bad power, constant under volts. Customer is working on getting the power fixed, both times had to replace the SD and HDD. I agree with "ihatefinishers" Looks like mSata/EMMC is the only thing left in your case. Keep an eye on your line conditioner.......

Corrupt Data. Perform SIM 66-29 and you'll be good.

I had the same issue with a MX8081 last month.
            Sharp said HDD.
While waiting for the HDD to ship, I tried loading a copy of the address book from another machine on the network (MX7081).
The MX8081 uploaded the address book data and I was able to then add/delete address book data as necessary.

Thanks. I did try reloading from another machine they have there. It looked like it worked until Accessing the address book and it shows the code. I hope the emmc will be here today and I will go there later or tomorrow morning.

Just a update. The HDD didnt fix. I did this 66-29 and it did fix the address book problem. I typed in the missing addresses and thought all was good. When I was working with the control panel on the machine, the panel was responding slowly. I installed the Emmc and that fixed the slow response of the panel. Now I had to reinput the addresses again. All seems fine now. If I run into this again I would try the 66-29 first and go from there.

Thanks for the update. This info could come in handy down the road.

Well, then my suggestions deserves at least half a "like" no?

I thought letting everyone know your suggestion worked was my way of liking your suggestion. I officially liked also. I do appreciate your suggestions. They have also helped me in the past.

                        Re: MX-7081 Address book failure

I had another machine (MX7081) drop the address book / error out when trying to manually enter addresses. This time I used (as suggested on this thread) sim 66-29 (address book clear) and it cleared the error code when manually adding address data. I posted about the results of other machine (MX8081) on page one of this thread.
I have downloaded the address books for future address book restoration. I recommend you do the same if you are servicing these models. Until Sharp comes out with a fix the machines will likely drop the address books from time to time.
