    Specific connectivity questions (MX-3100N)

    Hello everyone

A customer of mine has 3 very specific questions regarding the MX-3100N he is about to buy from us. The problem is that I only have limited time at the moment to look into this due to other appointments I have to attend and therefore I am writing this to draw from your undoubtely rich experience before I sit down and call Sharp's Seller Hotline... Maybe you can help me out

    1) Is network faxing possible from this machine? Never been there so I dont have any experience with it, but I believe it should be possible...

    2) Can user accounts be deactivated and (re)activated at will? From what I can recall a user account is either there or it isnt - no way to DEACTIVATE one to make it temporarily unavailable, isnt it?

    3) Scan via USB. Doable via TWAIN? Does the NST work with USB? I know that you can scan onto a USB stick, but this is out of the question.

Thanks in advance for any answers

I just phoned Sharp and these are the answers I got:

    1) Faxing is only possible via network with the supplied driver.

    2) There is no way to deactivate user accounts, but backups can be used to have 2 different states ready.

    3) Scanning can not be done via USB at all.

Seems the machine is indeed very network-centric and the USB is only there for printing. Anyway, questions answered, thread can be closed

Scan to USB is a standard feature on all MX machines.

Sharp told me otherwise. Unfortunately, I currently dont have a Jupiter II machine here to test it. And from personal experience I have only scanned to USB stick so far, which, of course, works. Are you sure scanning can be done via USB connection to a PC?

Sorry mate, I thought you meant USB stick scanning.

You are right, only printing from USB port. On the smaller B/W machines you can USB port scan when using Sharpdesk if that is your printing connection port as well. Other than that, no.

          Sorry mate, misunderstanding.
