    MX450's general perception

I am about to make a copier recommendation and we were quoted 8 MX450's and 2 Ricoh 171spfs.
    1. Is the MX450 a reliable B&W for my fleet. Have you guys seen anything wrong with it.
    2. For both of these products a 3 year lease is $2600 a month including all maintenance. Is this a good deal?

The MX-M450 is a great machine. I have been in copiers for 31 years and we have been a Sharp dealer for the past 5 years.

It seems impossible for any of us to answer the price question not knowing what your application is and how the machines are configured. If your getting just the base machine that price is probably high BUT, if your getting fully loaded units with network print and scan and the works well maybe it's not so high. Also, how many copies are included in "all maintenance" and does the "all" really include all. Service contracts are normally expressed in cost per page and price is based on volume.

      Hello all

I service about 100 of the mxm450 b/w machines. They actually work very well with the exception of the DV unit coupling spring which I had to replace all 100 eventually. There was an engineering change to the spring, I assume it would be implemented on any new production of this model. The couple would disengage due to lack of spring pressure and ruin the dv units coupler so I have replaced a few of those. It would just spit out blank copies and the mag roller would stop turning. I sometimes would generate an L4-00 error code "main moter lockup." for this same spring issue. Also apply a light oil lube to the dv coupler shaft extending from the main drive unit.

Also I had to remove the bushing and clean on the scanner unit's right side shaft, substandard grease used in production and would cause intermittent L3-00 and L1-00 error codes. besides that not else much to report on them other than,

And about price, not sure.... I just fix them eh.....

They are great machines when you run them hard. The single print/copy jobs all day are a bit rough on them. Just like driving a car in the city vs on the highway.

They also have a nice short paper path so if you do have a jam there is not 8 peices of paper scattered around the machine. Every thing is up the left hand side.

You can have letter sized paper stapling with out having a great big finisher sticking off the side so your footprint is much smaller than others.

The document feeder is a single pass feed for double sided so:
          A) it's fast
          B) crumpled or torn originals have a much higher chance of feeding through since they don't have to get flipped.

I better stop before i start sounding like a sales man
Evil will always triumph because good is dumb.
