please wait print quality is being automattically adjusted

    Hello techs
i have a customer that is complaining on their mx-2700n that the message "please wait..." is coming up to often and it is slowing them down. I read a bulletin on this (mx-3501n-13856) that says you can change the intervals at which it executes the please wait message. i was just wondering if anyone has done this (sim 44-28) set bk ratio to 40 default 20 and m ratio to 40 default 20. anyone do this and it caused alot of other problems? should i change this? or just make the customer deal with it?

It's a no win situation. When we went to school on those things it would go into that when all the students gathered round to look at something. That's how sensitive it is. Don't work on them anymore, but if you change that the quality will suffer and that will be your next problem.

      Hence the no win thingy.

Dustin, there is a way around this.

        Change Sim 55-03 Sw2, bit2 from 0 to 1.

This will not stop the machine from doing its automatic adjusting, just disabling the message that comes up saying that it is adjusting/please wait.
It will not totally stop the message, but definitely makes it appear much less, enabling the client to use the operation panel instead of waiting all the time.

Dont touch any other sim like 44-28 you mentioned. Leave this alone. That one is handy if you want the machine to do more process control if client is doing alot of high-coverage print jobs. If they are doing that, the MX series is notorious for not being able to supply enough toner in, from what is being taken out on each page, so adjusting 44-28 will & does help in those situations.

From what I can gather, you just want the please wait messages less often. Change that sim I mentioned and you will see far less of them.

Will this work on the 3501/4501 color as well? And who's arm did you twist to get that out of them?

The Pastel 2 seem to be a lot faster than the first series. Have you had any complaints that the MXC311 is slow to come ready? Especially if it was in sleep mode?

Also, make sure Firmware is up-to-date to increase the cycle interval of Secondary belt cleaning.

Let the client know that the please wait/auto adjusting is part of every color machine design. They all do it at some stage. Color density, rego adjustment etc etc are all being done during that cycle.
The sim I mentioned is a way of reducing the amount that the machine actually says it is doing the adjustments (while it still does it in the background).

That sim change works on ALL MX machines.

              trust me.

The cycle time also increases when consumables are near end-of-life, but this message still is alot less with that sim change.

Sorry guys..... too early in the morning.

Its actually changed from 1 to 0.

                1 is actually the default.

                Definitely change the 1 to a 0.
