    Ar-BC260 scanning problem

When scanning sometimes the machine freezes. The display just reads "sending". Have to turn machine off and back on to make it work. Problem is intermittent, can not pin it down to large file or small files or paper size.

Anybody want to share their experiences with this machine, good or bad.

Torching machine is not an option. However, if the building burned down and everything inside with it........................?

Have you recently done any Firmware upgrades?
I once had the same issue when I only did the PCU and ICU firmware upgrades, not the whole set, including PCL, OPE & SCN firmware files.
I remember this call really well, as I havent made the same mistake again....... I was performing the firmware upgrades, it was late in the day and the business was closing. I had only done the PCU & ICU upgrades by that stage. I thought that would be enough as they were the main files.... things should be OK. Next day, client logged a call saying scans were locking up and printing was taking forever to rip. 'Must be a problem with the firmware I thought'.
Sure enough, went back and tested the scans were locking the machine up and printing a basic word document was taking several minutes.
I proceeded to upgrade the rest of the firmware files (PCL, SCN & OPE).
Everything worked well afterwards and has been fine since.
Later found out that Sharp makes the Whale firmware files only work together as a combined set. Do not only load certain files. You need to do everything together. The firmware files are created to work together as a set. ...... silly me. Mistake learnt!

If you havent done the firmware, I would suggest you do it. I know the Whale firmware upgrade process is a b*tch, but the Whales we still have the field are all running latest firmware and performing well.

Otherwise, clean & reseat all memory and Flashroms. Setup sharpdesk scanning to your laptop & test it. That would rule out any network issues. if it works there.

I don't think I have the proper tools for updating the firmware. Does it require a special tool or can i load it on a laptop and download through the network cable?

Haven't ridden my seadoo in a while, I bought a boat. Check out pic.

There is a converter box and cables to program the flashroms, p/n is UKOG-0002QSZZ. There are two types of files for each flashrom, a source file and a program file. If you have a lot of machines to upgrade, I would use the source file. Once the source file is programmed onto a flashrom, you can bypass the converter box, and just copy from the source to the target flashrom. It takes less then a minute for each flashrom verses 4-5 minutes for the program file to load.
