Sharp AR-M450 PCL5e Scanner Set Up Problem

Hi - I have had this network scanner and printer working for years on my laptop, but this weekend I did a fresh install on my laptop, and now I can't set it up again. I have installed the printer function just fine, but when I install the Sharpdesk Network Scanner Tool, it does not detect the scanner. If I manually enter the IP address, I get an error that it is unable to add the scanner. Details of the error are as follows:

    Add failed. (0x82150211)
An error eoccurd when using library functions supplied by SnmpResearch
Device at IP ..... has invalid copier xml file

I have turned off the Windows XP firewall and completely uninstalled AVG anti-virus but still no luck.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks!

That worked and it brought up the web management screen. I am still not able to add the scanner on my computer though.

I've had trouble finding copier also, until 3.2 version 1.4 came out. You can find it on Sharp's IDNC site.

Thanks for the help, but I am using 3.2. Any other thoughts?

I almost always have trouble self detecting the first time or two. Keep trying with the self detect mode. It should find it eventually.

When you print out page 22-6 in sim mode does it say it has the scan function?

I am not sure how to print that report out, but everyone else on the network can scan without a problem. Repeated tries in detecting the scanner have continued to fail with no luck.

The only thing I have been able to find that is different on other machines that are working, is that when I select the properties of the scanner, that those computers have already found, under advanced, the option to use host name is greyed out. I assume this is because it is already found via the IP address, but I thought I would point this out too. Thanks again!

Okay, skip the report page. If everyone else can then it has the scan funtion.

TRy a different cable if that does n't work then it must be the computer. Maybe admin rights are stopping it from finding the scanner.

I would plug a laptop in at than cable location. When it works you will have narrowed it down to the computer as the problem.

Thanks! I'm sure its the computer because I have been scanning to this location for years, it is just not working now that I have re-installed windows on this computer. So, I'm sure it is a windows configuration issue. What kind of admin rights might it be? Again, I have unblocked the firewall and there is no anti-virus. I have compared my set up to other computers that are working and there doesn't seem to be any difference in settings.

You really need to make sure that another computer/laptop works through that cable. It could be a cable problem.

You must have admin rights in order to install anything on a computer. Their IT guy will know if that persons log on has admin rights.

There are several versions of Sharpdesk V3.2, the latest is version 1.4. It helped me with a couple of installs when the scanner could not be found with auto detect, or by manually adding scanner.

Thanks - turns out I have a version that is much before 1.4 of V3.2. I am unable to find the latest version. Can you post a link? Thanks again!

I can't provide a link, Sharp's IDNC site for service has the download. I don't know where else it might be located.

As far as i know Sharp Desk is not availiable for download to the public.

I have had problems with that on certian computers as well with Sharp Desk unable to find the copier and we ended up downloading the latest version of Sharp Desk from the dealer side of Sharps webpage and that fixed it.
