    AR-M350U P14 problems

I have an ar-m350U that I've been trying to set up for network printing. I bought a p14 kit (actually a whole mfc board with roms and nc5j on it). I installed it this morning, and as best I can tell there's no change at all. I have the nc5j configured, can access the http interface and all, but printing to it using any of the drivers (pcl5e, pcl6) fails. There's no response from the copier and it will eventually give a print error on the computer.

How do I tell for absolute certain that these roms are/are not p14 roms? Is it possible they just made a mistake and sent me a non-p14 rom set or do I also need something else to make this work (i.e.. a product key.. was told one was not needed but the manual says it does)?

    Thanks,

Yes, you will need a product key; as far as the flash roms are concerned, the label will have either Vu... or Vn... for the model type.

That's what I was afraid of. Is it possible to get a key for this board? How do I go about it? Is it more money than the whole machine is worth?

        Oh, the rom versions:
The board I purchased (from Greater Philadelphia) : boot is TM28-45, Vm4.01, main is VmC.06.
The original board roms: Boot is Vm4.02D, main is VmJ.04.

        So are both non-p14 roms?

        Thanks,

The boot rom is ok but is not the latest version - Vm5.03A. The main rom should read Vp...and the latest version is VpJ.10. The P14 should have had a booklet with an application number; this with the s/n provides a product key (from Sharp's Product key support website). If the booklet was not in the P14 package, I'd return it.
As far as is it worth it to get the key... probably not. The next version of this model was the ARM355/455 and had some improvements over the ARM350/450. I guess it depends on the meter count and any other repairs that might be needed.

Well the part is a pull from another machine, bought used. The seller says I don't need the code. Perhaps it's already been entered? I got the whole slide out tray & board (AR-M11, the two rom chips mentioned, and an ar-nc5j).

I should probably mention that it was bought on the recommendation of a forum member from a copier company.. not some ebay stuff. Just so ya know the likelihood of a scam is slightly lower

If P11 was pulled from another machine (different s/n), it will not work. You can get in touch with Product key support and explain your situation; they might re-issue a product key for your new s/n if you give them the original s/n (where the P11/P14 came from). I wouldn't bet on it though, Sharp wants you to buy another printer expansion kit.
Most likely not a scam, but maybe misinformed.
