    MX4501 network authentication problem

Has anyone experienced this problem with user authentication with a MX4501? Local copy or use works fine -try to send from a user on the network and it will not work at all. We can print just fine to this unit but when user authenticion (account) is turned off but when on we can't get a pass code block to show up the computers and it will not print. Help! What is wrong here? Also how do you setup desktop scanning? We tried the twain but to no avail. We are using the latest print driver. wd/40

The MX machines have either FULL Security or NO Security, depending on if you have User Authentication activated or not.
If you have User Authentication activated, set it up with pin number access (easiest option). Setup all users with pin numbers, or even easier, setup department or color permission pin numbers. These pin numbers must be installed in the PC driver in the Job Handling tab. It would be advised to set this number up in the printer defaults so you dont need to enter it each time/per print job.
If User Authentication is activated, the MX machines will kill all print jobs that dont have a matching pin number attached to the print job (Job Handling tab).
You can also untick the option for Cancel Invalid print jobs/user which is in the User Authentication setup. This will allow print jobs to come through, while still enabling User Authentication on the copier operation panel. This could be seen as a waste of time as it will not count Print jobs in the user authentication reports, only the copies, when a valid user has logged in.

If you want simple Desktop scanning, use Sharpdesk. You would have had a CD delivered with the machine. You can also setup Network scan Folders which is even easier. I have the documentation on this if you need. Just give me your email address.

        Network scan Folders

Yes please, I didn't find qualified instruction in the manual. Printing, copying, scan to e-Mail works fine. Scan to printers local disk is ok. Now I'm having a share on my network available for common scans. It's a user and password secured share for our company, but the MX reports can't find the server.
        can you help me?

You haven't setup the correct permissions & passwords.
