    AR-156

    I have 2 questions please;
    1. Will the drum and or drum cartridge from the AL 1551CS work in the AR-156???
    2. What would cause the copies to gradually fade out on one side. Say on a 10 copy run by the 4th copy it starts and gets fainter by the 10th. The side that it is happening on if it makes a difference is the backside of the drum.
    P.S. I did try the drum cartridge from the 1551CS and it would not set in place properly. I was able to make copies with the same reults. I then swapped the drums around and thought the problem was fixed. Yet copier is back at it again. Please help me here!!!
    Thanks!!!

    If its the same basic box/frame the drum should swap out, but not the drum unit or cartrige, there are some physical differences between them.
    On the fading, I would look at the developer unit, the mag roller may be coated like the old AR 350/450's used to do.
    Dump out all the DV and vac it real well, and look at the roller, if there is a build up of toner on the rear frame side of the roller, use a green scotch-brite pad, and buff the buildup off the roller, reload DV and give it a shot.
    Could also be the LSU, but I would look at the developer unit first.

      sounds like dev unit to me... if the copies are good then fade out as you do more... test like this.... make copies till they fade. open the door right away... remove the dev unit and genttly agitate it put it back in and continue the same job ...... see if they are faded right away... or if they get good right away and fade out again.... i suspect a mixing problem in the dev unit like an auger not turning and the fresh toner is not mixing in properly.

      also is the machine level?
      I fix copiers ...Well Sorta

            You would think, however first copy was fine and by the tenth copy was almost blank. we started with drum unit then tried dv unit, replaced lsu and problem is gone.

                I think I see now; you're saying LSU which is something I told could be a cause but that it is a pain to replace???
                Thanks!!!
