Sharp AL-1555 L1 problem

Hey there,

I have no real idea about Sharp's but I am attempting to repair an AL-1555 small copier which is giving me an L1 error. I traced this to be the scanner locking mechanism. I checked the switch under the screen and it was unlocked - yet I am still getting the error.

I have even dragged the scanner across and it scrolled back quite happily and then popped the error back up again?

Make sure the scanner rails and bar are clean and lightly oiled, it could be a timing problem.
