    Sharp MX-2300

This machine with saddle stich finisher says to close the finisher and close all doors. (finisher)
Ckecked every door, they are all closed.
When resetting the 24v fuse on finisher board the error is gone but returns after warming up.
    Someone ??
Seems to be problem with one of the motors ??

    Thanks in advance

I've had this a few times and it's been the stacker lift motor. some times the board is ok, sometimes the board has been damaged. if you remove the motor you'll notice there is a distinct 'fried' odour.

Bonnie is right. The problem is mostly caused by the Tray Lift Motor. Apparently during manufacture of the lift motors for a certain period, the motors were tested and found to be noisy. The motor bushings were coated in an oil to reduce the noise. This was OK to start with, but once in the field, the motors would short circuit, causing 'Close cover' message, actuating CB1 on the finisher control PWB and/or causing F1-21.
Here in Australia, we had a whole heap of them all go bad at the same time. Was a crazy week, replacing alot of lift motors. We think we got a bad batch of the affected finishers. The lift motor is the same as the ARFN7 finisher. That motor can be used in the MXFNX2 if you have one sitting around. Some of the ARFN7 motors are a slightly different size, but fits OK and works well.
The Finisher control PWB is sometimes affected by the excess current caused by the short circuit of the motor. We only had one blown PWB, the rest were always just the motor. Pretty easy to replace.
