    Sharp SD-2260

In our office, our SD-2260 seems to need a drum replacement and a general cleaning. No companies in our area will touch it and I was told that replacement parts would be very difficult to find. My question is, is it worth even trying to fix this copier or would it just be more economic to say "f' it" and buy a new model?

    Thanks

We still have alot of these in the field but they are all coming off the contract October of next year. Parts are getting hard to find and expensive but IMO still a good machine. They are a solid workhorse and if you know how to take care of them they will last forever but if you have 15 different people beatin on em then your chances go lower of it staying together. Just took one out of service 2 months ago with 4.5 million copies on it but it was a 1 owner that took very good care of it. Most people will tell you to get rid of it. Good Luck

I dont know the history of the machine because i just started working at this company only a couple months ago. I havnt seen it take much abuse, but they also havnt been using it much this last month because the images are very poor. I called out a technician for a different printer that we were having maintenance done on and he took a quick look at the sd-2260. He told me that the drum and a couple other parts should be replaced/rebuilt because it is coming up to that point. The problem is, he does not work on them and neither does any company in the area. Like you said it is a great machine and I would hate to replace it but I dont where to get it fixed. Do you guys lease your machines?

Depending on how old the supplies are, and from what your saying about copy quality, past there time.
You can look at spending $3,000.00 or more.
Depends on labor rate and how far they have to go to get to your office
The old SD 2260 is a good machine, real workhorse, but like said, its not a multi user machine, its a machine that needs a operator that knows it. and it will run great
PM life on supples is 250K, I have seen them go longer though.

We sell service contracts on them we dont lease them. Where are you located? I could personally clean that machine up and make it run beautifully. That is the first machine I ever worked on and still do.

I think you answered your own question. If service companies in your area won't touch it, then you will never be able to keep this machine in good running order.
But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard... to be the Shepherd.

The 2260 were great machines, worth fixing imo if parts are available yet, I've seen them go to 7 and 8 million copies

Katun looks to have most all PM supplies and kits available yet for this machine, but are on final inventory...
