    MX4501N Loud Wining Noise

This unit displays error "Web Cleaning Unit not installed. Call for Service." It is still copying and printing but whenever it begins a job a loud whining (like a jet engine) starts in the fuser area. I have ordered the Web Unit, but am wondering if the whining could be caused by that, or if I should be looking for another source of mechanical failure. The fuser seems to be fine. Thanks for your help.

Have you removed the Fuser unit and checked the Web cleaner ?

Internal gears can become jammed with parts of the cleaner cloth.

There are 2 cooling fans above the Fuser Unit, if the Web cleaner has malfunctioned, bits can go any where..

The Fuser may look alright, but without the cleaner unit it will foul and the roller surfaces can become damaged very quickly.

Also when the new Web kit arrives, don't skip replacing the Pre Heater roller, as those can cause as much trouble ..as a paperclip.
    regards

If the machine is displaying 'web unit not installed', it means that it is either not correctly positioned on the fuser frame or the contacts from the web unit to the fuser frame are not touching.
If the web unit was actually expired/run out, the machine would display FK3 maintenance.

I'm thinking that the web unit isn't seated properly on the fuser. Take it out and have a look. Isolate a fuser problem running sim 6-01, FUM for the fuser motor.

I agree with John, in replacing the sub-heater unit in the web kit, but most of the time, it will last double life, if you make sure the web is replaced before it completely runs out and starts fouling up the rollers, then the sub-heater rollers.

          Question on Web Cleaning unit

Okay this is probably going to sound like a really dumb question to those of you with experience, but is the Web Cleaning Unit actually a seperate part from the fuser, or is it a part of the fuser. I am not quite sure what I am looking for. I am also not sure if it would be better to replace the whole fuser or if I order a fuser would I still need to install the Web Cleaning Unit? Thanks in advance for your answer.
