    MX4501 Web Cleaning Unit

Okay this is probably going to sound like a really dumb question to those of you with experience, but is the Web Cleaning Unit actually a seperate part from the fuser, or is it a part of the fuser. I am not quite sure what I am looking for. I am also not sure if it would be better to replace the whole fuser or if I order a fuser would I still need to install the Web Cleaning Unit? Thanks in advance for your answer.

The web cleaning unit is part of the fuser and will come with the MX-450FU1. If the problem is just the web, replace it with the MX-450WC; a lot less expensive than the whole fuser unit. If there are other problems (worn rollers, noisy bearing, etc) go for the whole unit; it's costs is only a little more than the roller kits, etc.

      Zootech is right on...

If your web unit is expired (150K), just replace it with either the web kit or NROLR1576FCZ2.
The fuser unit has a life of 300K, so in theory, you should get 2 web life's to one fuser unit or roller set. Most fuser units go well past the 300K life if in the right environment, with pre-heat & sleep mode activated and web replaced when required. The web comes off the top of the fuser unit. If the web is only due, you need to reset the web in 24-04, as well as the sub-heater E counters. If the fuser unit is due, reset all fuser counts and web counts.

Have you had any experience with these before? If you are not sure what you are looking for as stated, you need to get yourself the manual. We are more than happy to help you out as much as possible, but you need to know what you are looking at if you are a tech.

        Thank for your help.

I agree whole heartedly about the manual. I have been asking my manager to order one. No I do not have experience with this model. I am a printer tech, not a copier tech. But the company I am working for has a contract with this one facility that only I have security clearance to work at, so I get sent to every call there. I keep telling them that is like sending a Ford mechanic to work on a Mercedes, but I get sent anyway! It is an hours drive each way. If it weren't for the help of people like you, I would be totally screwed when it comes to these multi-function copiers. I really appreciate all the help you all have given me, hopefully someday I'll know enough that I can help someone else!! I saw the diagram of replacing the web cleaning unit and it appeared to be part of the fuser. Since I have been told in previous posts that the web cleaning unit could have come loose from the fuser frame and that a malfunctioning web unit can eventually foul rollers. I thought it might be better to replace the whole fuser and inspect for debris from the broken web unit when I did that and PRAY that the whining noise will go away! LOL! Wish me luck. Thanks again for all your help!!
