This is a good topic, it needs some good debate (mods if you want move it to business talk), OP I'm not trying to single you out, I've lurked here too long and seen alot of posts refering to master meter reader readings and stayed silent on the matter, I'm sorry I just now became vocal about it.. Its a touchy subject that I feel strongly about. In my company I firmly believe I have the strongest Tech to Customer relationship of all of my co workers, 99.9% of my customers are good people (minus the ONE Topeka based family( most describe them as a cult), guess who), I don't want them to be done wrong. (I wouldn't even stand for "them" to be sold a bad bill of goods, no matter how much I would hate myself later in the evening.) I flat out won't take part in it. I gave you the criticism and the special command code hoping you would do the right thing with it, like I said there are times when a master reprogram are necessary (very rare), but doing it for a quick buck is not one of them.
Wazza made a good example why they should be left intact from a service perspective, Zootech made a point of OEM approved refurb/remanuf, businesses, but is the OEM there to make sure you followed all the guidelines? Would that make a difference if the tech was sloppy, or the management is only worried about their bottom line?
It all comes down to trust, do you trust the people who rolled back the counters did the best job possible, or just said they did?
