Is an Image from a Scan/Fax saved into the copier for other users to access? I have a medical office that does not want patient/employee records available once it is scanned or faxed. I was under the impression all data was cleared from memory once it was scanned or faxed. Any info would help, thanks in advance!

The data is stored on HDD. If they are that concerned then they will need to have the data security kit installed. Either the MX-FRX2 or the MX-FRX2U. The MX-FRX2 is common criteria certified. the other is commercial version. -
A normal employee would not be able to access this information by simply looking on the copier. They would need some sort of device to help gather the data that is currently stored on the HDD correct?Comment

The only way that anyone could simply gain access and see data on the HDD, is if the data is scanned to HDD and stored in either the Main Folder, Quick File Folder or a user setup folder. These dont have any password protection unless the person scanning it actually stores a password with the document.
Data stored on the HDD is kept in Document Filing, and is easily accessable & printable without any password protection on the document. If data is scanned onto the HDD, there is no way of viewing it from a PC on this model copier. It must be accessed from the op panel.
If the data is scanned to an email, FTP, Network Folder etc etc, the data has left the machine and gone to that location. There is only a record of the file name, date, time etc etc that the scan was done. There is no stored data on the HDD which can be accessed by just anyone in that way. If there will be alot of data stored on the HDD without any password protection, then yes, get yourself the data security kit. Its expensive, but serves a purpose.
With faxing, once the data has gone to the destination, the machine only records it in the completed job log with the details only, not the actual data on the fax. If you have transaction reports setup so the image of the fax is on the transaction report, that could be a possible problem, but you can setup the transaction report to only show the basic fax send info if you want.Comment
