[Error Code] Sharp AR-M317 U2-40 err code

I keep getting a U2-40 err code. I have replaced toner more than once, replaced the DV unit, checked all connections they are all good. After i reset the code it will work for about 3-4 weeks and then the error will return. The service manual says the Main Board but i have never had to replace a main board on this series of machine before so i want to see if anyone has encountered this problem before.

Check the connector (for the toner cartridge) at the rear of the machine. It is mounted on a plate that is easily bent when cartridge is forced in. The plate can be repositioned by pushing with a screw driver from the rear of the copier.

The frame is not bent. I am hoping that i do not have to replace the main board. does any one else have an idea?

The U2-40 is a CRUM chip error. What brand of toner cartridge are you using? I've seen this error with OEM's but not nearly as often as others or the ones that I've refilled myself. I stopped doing refilling due to too many errors. There isn't much between the chip and the main board although it seems if it were the board the error would be more consistent. I have also on occasion loosened the screws on the chip so it has a little back and forth play in order to get better line-up when installing.

We had a AR235 that did this all the time. It was the companys office copier so we just reset it but ya same thing, clearing the code with sim 16 would get rid of it for a week or so and then it would come back. We replaced DV unit, toner and no fix. We just lived with it until we got another copier to replace it. I think that machine now resembles a cube
