A few things to keep in mind......

Sharp machines with a fax kit fitted, require the paper that the fax is to be printed onto, be called 'plain'. Also, disable fax print option to all other trays except your preferred fax tray in tray settings (system settings).

When you have a plain paper tray, with fax printing option enabled, it should work fine.

From your post, I can only guess that your 'legal' tray is the only tray that has fax printing enabled in system settings/tray settings.

not resolved all trays are set for copy print fax
if i uncheck fax from the legal tray faxes do not
print even though they should on the other trays.
a message to load a4 paper appears
when i saw that i thought destination was set wrong
but it was set for us. i tried other settings on another
mfp but the only settings that work are us all others
cause an error. i plan on reflashing this mfp , maybe
the firmware is corrupt although all other features work

Here in Australia, we dont really use 'Legal' paper sizes, only A4 & A3, so things are much easier to configure. Never really seen this issue, other than when clients change the paper settings themselves, like when the fax tray is called 'color' just because it has color paper in it.... ...... this one is different. Sounds like you have done everything right so far.

Yeah, make sure destination is correct in sim 66. Maybe even run a fax memory clear 66-10 just as a precaution. Run a full firmware reflash after that.

Please inform what you find out.

I forgot to mention..... if the firmware reflash doesn't get you up and running, there are a few switches you can change in simulation which can over-ride paper settings. Never needed to change any of that myself, but it might be your fix if your machine only has legal paper. If you need a copy of the SM, let me know.

after flashing still printed all faxes on legal
found a setting that said something like print
info outside original changed to inside original
and that fixed it.
