I have an MX3100 giving me totally blank copies. Customer said that it started shooting blanks in the copy mode first and that the print side was fine. By the time I got there everything was blank. Not sure I believe this but that is what she said. I'm going back with a transfer unit, but any other ideas would be helpful. I did the laser test and it came out good. Thanks.

The laser test might have been good, but are the shutters opening? I would check that the solenoid is operational in the test commands. I suspect like you that both copying and printing went blank at the same time."You can't trust your eyes, if your mind is out of focus" -- -

I agree with Zootech on the shutter issue, however there is a known fault on the Hv board of all second series MX machines, that can cause this problem of blank pages. Dont know if you guys up north have seen this yet, but we've had quite a few. The HV board has been updated.
The output is either completely blank, or is very, very light.
Execute Sim 44-06 (Force Process Control).
If a HV error is indicated on the operation panel (eg. K_HV_FLT), check both the MC Grid Bias & DV Bias voltages using sim 8-01 & 8-02 as per the Service Manual.
If an abnormal voltage is present (eg. DV Bias Monitor Voltage is approx 1V or less), check/replace the HVU/MC PWB.
MX2600/3100N: RDENU0088FCPZ
MX4100/4101N: RDENU0097FCPZ
MX5000/5001N: RDENU0101FCPZ
If that test works OK, try running sim 64-01 and 64-05.
The 64-01 print test comes from the board on the LSU, but the 64-05 print test comes from the MFP board. If 64-01 only works, you know the LSU is good, but not getting correct signal from the MFP and PCU boards. I've had a few machines have one color completely missing from all prints/copies. Instantly though it would be a shutter problem, but turned out to be a half connected cable going into the LSU, which explains why the 64-01 worked, but nothing else.
I'm betting either shutter/solenoid problem or maybe a HV board gone down. They are the 2 most common causes of that issue here.Comment

The HV board is surprisingly easy to replace on this series. You dont need to take alot of stuff off thats in the way first.Comment
