    MX6201N original reading wierdness

I wasn't there for this one, but the other tech reported after installing a new 6201 that after making a copy and taking out the original the machine was asking for 11x17 paper, then if you put an original in the doc feeder it would tell you to close the doc feeder. They swapped doc feeders with another 6201 they were installing at the same place and the problem stayed with the machine, eliminating the doc feeder as the source. If anyone has seen anything like this, please let me know. Thanks
I know I should be ashamed of myself. Strangely though, I am not.

I've had this issue quite a few times..... on almost every MX model. Its a problem with the OC document sensor unit. I have had the problem straight away after machine delivery/installation, and just appearing out of nowhere, after years of reliable service. I have no idea why it happens, but the symptoms always point to the OC sensors/unit. Maybe it was damaged during transport.

Run sim 41 and check the OC sensors and sensor unit operation. The engine is not detecting the ADF being closed, and reads the largest paper size as default (even though there is nothing there). When it happens here, the machine always says load A3 or close ADF.

I've had a disconnected sensor unit harness, dead OC sensors, misaligned front OC sensors and a damaged OC sensor unit over the years. Any one of these will be your problem.

Thanks Wazza, I'm not sure if it was the sensor or the connector, but replacing the sensor fixed it. I might have gambled on the connection being loose if it wasn't 100 mile away. Don't like to make those drives twice if I don't have to. Too old. Thanks again

Nice one! Did you replace the whole OC sensor unit? That is the most common cause here for that issue.
