    mx 5000

    Hello all

this isn't a request for assistance post, more a follow-on from something Wazza mentioned about blade flip. i work on the whole range of Sharp colour boxes and only get a problem with blade flip on mx5000 series machines, usually black and only when the blade and drum have been replaced. As a company policy fitting a complete pcu is discouraged so rebuilds are very common. this doesn't happen on the 2700, 3100, 7000 ranges.

    Any theories out there?

I have also noticed that MOST of the blade flips are on the C-Jupiter 2's.

I have seen it on both Pastel 2 & C-Jupiter 2, which obviously both use the same process unit frame. In saying that, I've seen it happen to new machines, approx 70K into its first 150K, and on drum units which have been refurbed with the drum/mk kit. There is no common cause for why it happens. Both conditions have been affected (new drum UNIT and refurbed process unit).

The correct powder to use on the Pastel 2 & C-Jupiter 2 drums/blades is Stearic Acid only (UKOG-0312FCZZ). If you use Kynar or Titanium Hydroxide, the drum driving torque is up to twice as high, which can easily make a blade flip over. Obviously make sure this is what is used on your refurbs.

Only the primary transfer belt cleaning blade has been updated with a new part number & design to prevent blade flips, but not the drum blades. Perhaps one day we might notice an updated drum blade too with a slightly less aggressive blade angle.

Blade flip on the whole MX range is not common, but it definitely happens on all the machines. But I agree with Bonnie in that its a little more noticeable on the new boxes........... And I know I'm doing everything right.

      Wazza,
I have seen the primary blades flip numerous times .Every time there was 1 common denominator. It was extremely warm with very high humidity (80+degrees and 70% + humidity). I removed the cleaning unit inspected (the last 1) primed and reinstalled been a month still no issues. Never seen this issue on warm dry days only very humid days.Could be an issue w/materials.Who knows? Also of note they were all MX5001N's except for 1 4100n.

        70% humidity...... wow!

I guess thats why I've never seen a primary belt blade flip yet, as we dont get anywhere near that sort of environment here.

I'll keep an eye out for that if it ever happens here. Thanks alot.
