I have never upgraded the firmware on this machine and it seems there is a print job hanging up problem that would be fixed if I could. I read through the version rom up method section in the service manual but I dont really understand it. If theres an expert please post.

Hope you have a Level convertor or a Tiger series machine around. You're going to need it.
I have done alot of Whale firmware upgrades, and I cant stress enough how important it is to upgrade everything all together. Make sure that every single firmware file is the most current. If you were to only upgrade the Print board, and leave the OPE, SCN, PCU or ICU as an older version, all hell breaks loose! The machine will work, but works poorly, freezes up prints or op panel, gives random error codes etc etc.
The firmware on a Whale series is designed to work together as a set.
