    MXM200 and ARM160 issues

Hi All, I have a couple of issues (weird ones) that i need some help with.
A dealer of ours has set up an MXM200 with scanning. She has tried to set it up two ways; scanning using the Network Scan Tool and using network paths with username/password. Each way it is set up, she can scan one page. If she tries 5 or more pages she gets a network error. Any ideas? Scan to mail is not an option.
My other one is more strange; we have an ARM160 on a small network (3 users). The machine has three trays. Two of the users can choose any tray to print from. However, one user, even when she selects trays 2 or 3, the print job comes from tray 1. This only happens in Microsoft Word. When I open tray one, i can choose the other trays. I have checked all the page set-ups in the word document. I know this overides print preferences. I have checked all "Word Options"; they are the same as the other two pc's. I am very certain that i have looked at all the controls/settings that are sent with the job.
    Has anyone got any ideas?

It sounds like you have already checked this but go to advanced in the print window when you go to print and see if you have it selected to use the printer settings. Have had this issue before and that is the way that I corrected it.

    Good luck.

Have you set up the printer configuration in printer properties?

Thanks Bil, and CopierTechofOmens. Yeah, both of those suggestions have been covered. The driver is loaded on the server and shared from there. The two other users are working fine??!! I am going in this afternoon to load the driver directly onto the PC and see what that does.

Hi All - HELP!!! My ARM 160 is breaking my heart. As you know, when i print from Word and choose a tray, it always chooses tray 1. Please read on-
Excel - i can choose tray 3 and it prints
PDF - i can choose tray 3 and it prints
Notepad - i can choose tray 3 and it prints
Wordpad -i can choose tray 3 and it prints
          Emails - the same
It only happens from Word. All of the settings in Word options are the same as another user who has no problem. If i open trays 1 and 2 i can print to tray 3. In the page set up of the document i can select tray 3 and it works.
          i am lost!
any ideas would be great. Using Word 2007

Hammer, ive come across so many issues in office 2007, never half as much in 2003.
From what ive been told it is more to do with the properties of the document in word that you are trying to print.
Had an situation where customer complained they couldnt print word docs on MX2300.
I copied it to usb & put it on my laptop (using 2003) & voila!
It printed, dont ask me why but it proved a point, we are copier techs, not software specialists!
Im sure you get my point.

I agree with the above post.

I recently had a Word 2007 printing issue on an MX color. It would always choose tray1, even though tray1 was setup for Letterhead. The Word 2007 settings were completely over-riding all machine & tray settings, completely ignoring everything, and just printing to the tray it was told to.
Traced the fault to the document template. I found the problem within the paper settings of the document that wouldn't print correctly. Had nothing to do with the driver or word 2007 settings, but the actual document. Turned out it was created overseas, and emailed to this client.
What I found out, was if the document was created by someone who uses tray1 for example as their default tray, or their printer only has one tray on it, the document template is created that way, with those same settings. The same document then gets printed from someone elses computer, and they have a 4 or 5 tray MFP. The document template is set for tray1 only, and will ignore everything else, even though you are selecting the correct tray in the driver.

The problem is in the paper setup of the document. Man, I hope that makes sense.... Friggin MS office!!!gagging.gif

Thanks guys. I totally agree. Paper settings can be a nightmare, such as externally created docs where the creator sets the template. i do not think this is a case of that. Even if i open a completely new doc, it happens. One thing i did notice in the word options section was an instruction to print this document in Windows 2007 style. The machine that works fine has this set for 2003. i tried to change this but it kept reverting back to 2007. Do you know if changes made in Word Options can be set as default?

Hi All, I meant to post ages ago about this and the result. I changed the print driver from PCL6 to PCL5 and bingo! It was that easy! Because it was a small site I changed it from printing through the server to print direct to the device. Thanks for your help and suggestions.
